Based on Erin Doom’s literary phenomenon, The Tearsmith is an upcoming Italian romance on Netflix, revolving around dark romance and troubled teenagers Nica and Rigel. Recently, the makers dropped an intriguing trailer that highlights more about their tragic past and their new lives. The streaming platform is currently gearing up for its OTT release and is keeping the craze high with teasers, trailers, and official pictures ahead of its premiere in April. Here’s everything you need to know about the romance drama film.
Adapted from the bestselling novel Fabbricante di lacrime, The Tearsmith will be marking its OTT debut on April 4 with Netflix. Alessandro Genovesi’s directorial venture, The Tearsmith, follows the troubled lives of two orphans who find themselves entangled in the same twisted fate.
In the trailer, we meet the two teen protagonists who are brought up in the same abusive orphanage, the Grave. Both of them deal with their past trauma in different ways; while one chooses the imagination of the fairy tales and legend of the mysterious craftsman who makes tears, the other is absorbed in music. When life gives them a second chance to heal and start afresh, will they accept themselves or drown in the inevitable forbidden love?

Starring Simone Baldasseroni and Caterina Ferioli as Rigel and Nica, The Tearsmith narrates the story of two orphans who are adopted by the same family. The Tearsmith marks the debut of Erin Doom and grabbed attention when it sold over half a million copies. The film adaptation is produced by Iginio Straffi and Alessandro Usai and is expected to surpass popularity in terms of views, just like its novel counterpart.
