Disney+ Hotstar is bringing a new film, The Storyteller. Based on a short story by the legendary Satyajit Ray, the film features Paresh Rawal and Adil Hussain in the lead roles.

Satyajit Ray is considered one of the greatest and most influential film directors in the history of cinema. He was a film director, screenwriter, author, lyricist, editor, composer, and much more. Several films have been made based on his stories and they earned praise. Now actors Paresh Rawal and Adil Hussain will be seen sharing screen space as they retell a short story by the legendary Satyajit Ray. The trailer for the film, The Storyteller, was released today, January 25.
The Storyteller will be released on Disney+ Hotstar. The makers dropped the trailer on their social media pages. It shows Paresh Rawal as Tarini Bandyopadhyay. He is a passionate storyteller but does not believe in contributing his tales to paper. He then meets Adil Hussain, a rich businessman suffering from chronic insomnia who hires Tarini to tell him stories as he is unable to sleep.
Set in Kolkata, the trailer offers the city of joy's famous places such as Kumortuli, Howrah Bridge, and more and rightfully sets the magic of Ray's work. Now the scene takes us to Tarini telling stories to the businessman and the latter praising him. When Adil learns that Tarini is not interested in committing his stories to papers, Adil publishes Tarini's stories as his own and starts achieving great success. However, Paresh discovers this shocking betrayal. This revelation sets Paresh on a journey of self-reflection and ultimately leads him to decide to take a stand to claim his rightful ownership of the stories.
Apart from the plot, the trailer has added the famous song, Aha Ki Ananda by Anup Ghoshal. The song is from the superhit movie, Hirak Rajar Deshe, directed by Satyajit Ray. The sweet tune of the song makes you fall in love with the magic of Ray once again.
The film is inspired by Satyajit Ray’s iconic short story Golpo Bolo Tarini Khuro. It explores themes of friendship, personal growth, and betrayal. Backed by Jyoti Deshpande, Salil Chaturvedi, Succhanda Chatterjee, and Shubha Shetty under the production company of Jio Studios, Purpose Entertainment & Quest Films, the cast also includes Anindita Bose, Rohit Mukherjee, and more. The film's music is crafted by the team of Hriju Roy.
Meanwhile, The Storyteller is slated to release on Disney+ Hotstar on January 28.
