Just a few weeks after announcing The Sabarmati Report, the makers have dropped a teaser for the film. The movie, based on real-life incidents, features Vikrant Massey in the lead role as a news reporter. The makers have released a short video honouring the victims of this tragic event, drawing viewers into the gripping narrative.
The film is about the unfortunate burning of the Sabarmati Express in Gujarat’s Godhra exactly 22 years ago, on February 22, 2002. In the video, Vikrant, as Shraban Kumar, who is breaking the news about the Godhra incident, reads on the teleprompter that it was an accident. He fumbles and then sternly claims that it wasn’t an accident.
While captioning the video, he wrote that today, they remember the 59 innocent souls lost in the Godhra train fire that happened 22 years ago.

Coming to theatres on May 3, 2024, The Sabarmati Report is reportedly going to be a devastating account of what happened on the morning of February 27, 2002, aboard the Sabarmati Express, close to the Godhra railway station in Gujarat.
Ranjan Chandel helms The Sabarmati Report, while Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Amul V Mohan, and Anshul Mohan produce the film starring Vikrant Massey, Raashii Khanna, and Ridhi Dogra. It is presented by Balaji Motion Pictures, a subsidiary of Balaji Telefilms Ltd.
Meanwhile, production for The Sabarmati Report is underway on Madh Island, where Vikrant has returned to set. The actor took a brief break in early February to spend time with his wife, Sheetal Thakur, and their newborn son. Vikrant returns to the film's hard story despite the personal milestone, demonstrating his dedication to his art. Raashii and he play the roles of journalists trying to make sense of the catastrophe that rocked Gujarat in 2002 and caused massive communal rioting.
In pursuit of realism, the production crew has spared no expense, going to extraordinary lengths to build replicas of the trains and the Godhra railway station, the real site of the incident. Vikrant and Raashii's characters lead a meticulous inquiry, allowing the audience to witness it all. Since filming began in Ahmedabad in December 2023, the film has been honouring the hard work of its cast and crew, with a wrap-up expected next week and a release date set for May 3.
