The Russo Brothers’ latest directorial venture came in the form of The Gray Man, an action packed ensemble led film which also saw Dhanush in a starring role. Now it seems that the filmmakers are gearing up to collaborate with Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani for their next project.
According to a report by news agency IANS, the brothers were in talks with Farhan and Ritesh to develop a project under the latters’ production banner Excel Entertainment. Anthony Russo seemed to confirm the same during a media interaction. The filmmaker spoke of how the brothers’ loved what Farhan and Ritesh were doing when it came to the content they produced in the country. “They have a brilliant knack for telling disruptive stories”, Anthony said.
The filmmaker went on to say that they were currently in talks with Farhan and Ritesh for a collaboration at the moment, although it may take some time for it to materialise. Anthony said that the project was still in early stages and was nothing more than an ‘exchange of ideas’ at present.
Farhan and Ritesh had founded their production banner in 1999, and made their debut as producers under the banner with the 2001 film Dil Chahta Hai. Farhan had also written and directed the film as well. The banner’s next production comes in the form of the horror comedy Phone Bhoot. Directed by Gurmmeet Singh, the film stars Katrina Kaif, Ishaan Khatter, and Siddhant Chaturvedi in lead roles.
The Russo Brothers’ The Gray Man released on Netflix on Friday. Part of the review of the film on OTTplay reads “The Gray Man is lost in translation and might make you enjoy the moment only to not have any recall value”. The film’s ensemble cast includes Chris Evans, Ryan Gosling, Ana de Armas, Jessica Henwick, Regé-Jean Page, Wagner Moura, Julia Butters, Alfre Woodard, and Billy Bob Thornton.
