At the trailer launch event of The Roshans today, January 9, Hrithik Roshan opened up about his grandfather, Roshan Lal Nagrath, known as Roshan. He said that he never met his grandfather and wondered what would be their conversation if he would somehow magically get a chance to meet him.
Hrithik said, "After seeing the documentary, I would actually like to ask him about his childhood, and the things he went through. I wondered what he would ask me. I think he may ask me if I am happy. I would thank him. I often wonder what was that drive when I was doing my first film. The simplest answer is that it was already there, it was in me, it was something that passed on. that's what genetic evolution is."
He further added, "When my father said that he wants to make this documentary, I felt embarrassed because I don't like attention. Then I realized it is not about me. This is about history and it is important."
When asked what is the one thing he would like to share with his grandfather, the Fighter actor said his song compositions.
Directed by Shashi Ranjan and produced with Rakesh Roshan, The Roshans explores the family’s influence on Indian cinema since the 1950s.
The documentary revolves around the family’s journey from composer patriarch Roshan Lal Nagrath (known professionally as Roshan), through his sons, actor and filmmaker Rakesh Roshan (the “Krrish” franchise) and composer Rajesh Roshan (“Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai”), and grandson, Bollywood megastar Hrithik Roshan (“War”), exploring their contributions to the Indian film through music, directing and acting.
In the trailer, Shah Rukh Khan, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and other famous Bollywood faces can be seen sharing anecdotes about the Roshan family.
Meanwhile, The Roshans will land on Netflix on January 17.
