In Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, directed by Aditya Chopra, Anushka Sharma made her acting debut. The actor reflected on how Aditya wanted to keep the details of her debut a secret in the Netflix documentary The Romantics.
Anushka disclosed that everything was kept a secret. Aditya didn't want anyone to know that she was the lead actor, so no one was aware of it. He told her that she couldn't tell anyone. Even telling her parents is not permitted. She uttered, "Huh?"
The 2008 film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi centres on Surinder (Shah Rukh Khan), a straightforward man who marries Taani (Anushka Sharma) after falling in love with her. He completely transforms into Raj, who is loud and outgoing and the complete opposite of Surinder, in order to win her over. Most significantly, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi conveys the idea that being "ordinary" is cool by telling a story from the perspective of an everyday individual.
Meanwhile, Anushka was all of 19 when she was cast opposite SRK. The actor then also appeared in Yash Chopra's last directorial, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, which reunited her with the superstar and also featured Katrina Kaif in the leading role. The trio was then seen together in Aanand L. Rai's Zero, which was Anushka's last outing.
Speaking of Anushka's forthcoming projects, she will appear in the sports biopic Chakda Xpress, which will only be available on Netflix and is based on the life of Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami. The movie's precise release date is still pending. For the first time in her career, the star will play a cricket player. Karnesh Sharma, the brother of Anushka, will produce Chakda Xpress through his in-house production business, Clean Slate Filmz.
YRF also gave Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra, and Bhumi Pednekar their first big roles, along with Anushka.
