When Trisha's Raangi hit screens towards the fag end of 2022, expectations were high from the film, especially after the release of Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan. However, Raangi turned out to be a dampener at the box office. OTTplay critic P Sangeetha had then written, "Raangi's premise is an interesting one, but the film ends up becoming a convoluted mess."

Trisha's female-centric films have not really made a mark, be it Mohini, Nayaki or Raangi, despite the actress's earnest performance. Let's see how debutant director Arun Vaseegaran's film has fared.
So, did Trisha finally hit the nail on the head with The Road?
The film's tagline, 'Revenge in 462 kms' hints at an action-packed entertainer. The Road is billed as a revenge thriller, where Trisha sets out to find out the reason behind the death of her family, but ends discovering an unusual connection. The film stars Shabeer Kallarakkal, Santhosh Prathap, Laxmi Priya, Mia George, MS Bhaskar, and Semmalar Annam to name a few.
