Trisha's latest outing, The Road, recently dropped in theatres on October 6. The film, directed by Arun Vaseegaran, is said to be a revenge thriller, which also stars Shabeer Kallarakkal in a pivotal role.

Shabeer's message to The Road fans
Shabeer Kallarakkal, whose performance as Maya, has become a hit among the audience, today, took to his social media handle, to talk about the film. In a video dropped by the actor, he said, "This is Arun's (Vaseegaran) first film. My big congratulations to him. I thank him for giving me this role. I thoroughly enjoyed playing Maya. Trisha has played the lead and alongside her is Santhosh Prathap. There are many talented artistes in the film, like Miya George, MS Bhaskar and Vela Ramamoorthy."

He added, "I thank the press and media for the positive reviews. I thank the audience who watched and promoted the film. A special thanks to fans of Trisha. Your messages and love are overwhelming. Those who haven't watched the film yet, please do and let us know what you think."

Woman on a mission to seek revenge
The film's trailer begins with the Friedrich Nietzsche quote, “In revenge and in love woman is more barbaric than man is". When Trisha's family gets killed in an orchestrated accident on a highway, she sets out to find out the reason. However, her life gets intertwined with Maya, a school teacher whose life takes a unique turn after he is accused of misbehaving with students. How these stories get connected and how the culprits behind the accidents are revealed, forms the plot. The film's tagline, 'Revenge in 462 kms' pretty much sums up that the film also involves a lot of travel.

Reception to The Road
The film has opened to mixed reviews with a majority of the critics stating the story fumbles after a while. However, Shabeer's performance has come in for a lot of praise and some have also called it the highlight of the story.
