After The Penguin, two more Batman villains Bane & Deathstroke are getting a movie together - Here's everything we know so far

In the realm of DC, the side of the live-action world that is making the most news right now is the DC Elseworlds. We are witnessing the release of The Penguin, eagerly awaiting Joker: Folie à Deux, and the buzz around The Batman Part II is unparalleled. While James Gunn continues to shape his DCU, keeping the Elseworlds separate from his DC Universe, Batman dominates both spaces. Even in DCU Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, there’s The Brave and The Bold, another Batman movie. While much has already been confirmed for Chapter One, fans are curious about what more Gunn might be planning. It turns out that "more" may be another Batman-related movie. According to reports, James Gunn is busy developing a Bane and Deathstroke team-up film.

Bane & Deathstroke Team-Up Film in the DCU

Batman villains are having a moment in DC’s live-action universe. In DC Elseworlds, we already have The Penguin, Joker, and Harley Quinn making headlines. There are even rumors of Sofia Falcone or Two-Face getting their own spin-offs. Now, it seems James Gunn is also planning to include two of Gotham's most iconic villains, Bane and Deathstroke, in the DCU. The duo is set to star in a team-up film that already has a script in development. Below is everything you need to know about this exciting update.

As per Deadline, Matthew Ortan, known for his work on the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Captain America: Brave New World, has been hired to write the script for the Bane and Deathstroke team-up film under the guidance of James Gunn and Peter Safran. Ortan has reportedly developed a screenplay, and the producers are now searching for a director. There's no word yet on casting or if the process has even begun. Given Tom Hardy’s iconic portrayal of Bane and Joe Manganiello’s memorable cameo as Deathstroke, the studio will need a landmark casting to satisfy fans.

Will It Be Part of DCU or DC Elseworlds?

The report indicates there is no clarity yet on whether the Bane and Deathstroke film will be part of the DCU or if James Gunn will place it within DC Elseworlds. Gunn previously considered shaping the now-canceled Arkham Asylum series in a way that connected Elseworlds to the DCU, so it’s possible this team-up film could bridge the two universes.

However, it’s also important to note that The Brave and The Bold has been confirmed as part of the DCU, having been announced as one of the films in Chapter One. This suggests that the Bane and Deathstroke movie could fit into the DCU as a continuation, or even serve as a precursor to The Brave and The Bold, which is being developed by The Flash director Andy Muschietti. As of now, James Gunn has not commented on these reports, and there has been no official confirmation from the studio either.
