It seems like DC Elseworlds still has hope, even after Joker: Folie à Deux struggled at the global box office. Now, The Penguin has emerged as one of the most popular shows in the streaming space worldwide. Starring Colin Farrell, the series has proven that not only Joker but also other Gotham-based IPs can thrive in live-action without Batman. As the show deepens, with a gripping conflict between Sofia Falcone and Oz Cobb, the mystery is mounting, and fans are eager for what’s next. With DCU’s new direction spilling into DC Elseworlds, the future of its projects remains uncertain. Yet, given how well The Penguin is performing globally, it wouldn’t make sense to stop after just one season. Showrunner Lauren LeFranc seems optimistic, stating that Gotham has a wealth of untapped stories and more potential to explore. If the series can continue to evolve, the team is open to expanding.
LeFranc told Screen Rant, “Gotham is ripe for so many stories, as the comics have shown over decades. I love this version of Gotham and all the characters we've explored. There’s always room for more, and if the story can be even better, we’re all in."

However, the official synopsis reveals: Starring Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb (aka "The Penguin"), this eight-episode DC Studios series picks up after Warner Bros. Pictures' hit film The Batman.
