The second half of 2024 has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride in the international streaming space, which has flourished with each big-budget show released. Be it House of the Dragon, The Penguin, or Dune: Prophecy, HBO has delivered one hit after another. Among these, the Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti starrer DC Elseworlds show, created by Lauren LeFranc with Matt Reeves overseeing it, stood out the most. The show, which captures the rise of crime boss Oz Cobb in Gotham after the death of Carmine Falcone, soon became one of the most loved shows of the year, leaving fans eager for more.
Matt Reeves Confirms The Penguin Season 2
Even before The Penguin Season 1 concluded its eight-episode run on Max, fans were clamoring for a second season. While rumors of a follow-up existed, there wasn’t any direct confirmation—until now. Matt Reeves, the mastermind behind The Batman epic crime saga, has revealed plans for The Penguin Season 2.
According to Comic Book Movie, Reeves confirmed discussions with Lauren LeFranc about another season. “Yeah, we’re talking to [showrunner] Lauren [LeFranc] about doing another season,” Reeves stated. “That was a special experience. I just feel really fortunate. These characters don’t belong to me; they belong to the world. It comes down to whether you can approach them in a way that expresses something personal.”

About The Penguin
The show follows Colin Farrell’s Oz Cobb as he climbs Gotham’s crime syndicate ladder. The official synopsis reads: “Starring Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb (aka 'The Penguin'), the eight-episode DC Studios’ The Batman epic crime saga began with Warner Bros. Pictures’ global blockbuster The Batman. Developed by Lauren LeFranc, the series centers on the character played by Farrell in the film and begins just as Gotham is flooded by The Riddler.”
The Penguin premiered on September 20, 2024, and all episodes of Season 1 are now streaming on JioCinema in India, available in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, and Marathi.
