The Conjuring Universe continues to deliver and having tasted success with almost all of its releases thus far, the franchise returned in 2023 with The Nun II. As the title suggests, the film comes as a sequel to the 2018 smash hit The Nun with Taissa Farmiga reprising her role as the tenacious nun who must counter the threats of the demonic nun Valak (Bonnie Aarons).

If The Nun was set in Romania in the year 1952, The Nun II transports us to France in 1956 when a priest is murdered and Sister Irene is again forced to tackle Valak in her quest to solve the crime.

Directed by Michael Chaves and written by Ian Goldberg, Richard Naing and Akela Cooper, The Nun II emerged as a huge success at the box office. The film collected close to $260 million worldwide against a budget of $38 million.

When and where to watch The Nun II on OTT

Following a successful theatrical run, The Nun II is all set for its digital premiere. The film, while best experienced on the big screen, is likely to find popularity in its second release run as well, just as with all the previous outings belonging to The Conjuring Universe.

Will there be The Nun 3?

Of course, as in the case of any successful franchise, one wonders about the future of The Nun series of films, with The Nun 3 currently in focus. While the possibility of the third instalment remains unconfirmed by the makers, Michael Chaves has spoken of the project in his previous interviews, adding that The Nun 3 could serve as the bridge between the events of The Nun II and those of The Conjuring.

The Conjuring, released in 2013, shows the events set in the late 1960s whereas The Nun II goes back in time to the mid-1950s and Chaves alludes that the third Nun film could cover the gap of a decade.
