Poised to reprise his role as Shailendra Rungta (Shelly) in the second season of Disney+ Hotstar’s crime thriller television series The Night Manager, actor Anil Kapoor says that he ‘harnesses his negative feelings and makes something good come out of them’.

Spanning four decades in the film industry, Anil has an interesting oeuvre of works to his credit - including films like Mashaal, Meri Jung, Karma, Mr. India, Tezaab, Ram Lakhan, Eeshwar, Lamhe, Beta, 1942: A Love Story, Virasat, Judaai, Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain, Pukar, Nayak, Slumdog Millionaire, Welcome, Dil Dhadakne Do, and more recently Jugjugg Jeeyo.

While promoting the release of The Night Manager Part II in Mumbai recently, Anil commented on him being initially a little hesitant to play Shelly in the series. “I am reluctant for each and every role. It was not that I was reluctant only for my role in The Night Manager. I am always overwhelmed by this anxiety and nervousness about whether I will be able to do the role or not, and I use that energy to perform better. I seriously don’t know how to do a role with overconfidence. Somehow, these little things help me do my role exactly the way my director wants me to do it. I draw energy from my reluctance and anxiety,” the evergreen actor said.

Created by Sandeep Modi, the show is a remake of the 2016 British television series of the same name. The Night Manager also features Aditya Roy Kapur, Sobhita Dhulipala, Tillotama Shome, Ravi Behl and Saswata Chatterjee in pivotal roles. The second part of the series will start streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from June 30.
