A new Netflix documentary will piece together the mystery behind Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe's death in 1962, which has sparked rumours and conspiracies over the years.
"The true things rarely get into circulation, it’s usually the false things," begins the trailer for the documentary. This is the newest true-crime doc that the streaming platform will add to its library and will take a look into Monroe's alleged drug overdose that led to her death at 32. There was no development in this matter until the case was reopened for investigation in 1982.
"By piecing together her final weeks, days, and hours through previously unheard recordings of those who knew her best, the film illuminates more of her glamorous, complicated life, and offers a new perspective on that fateful night," reads the official synopsis of The Mystery of Marilyn Monroe: The Unheard Tapes.
The trailer also hints at how the interview tapes surrounding the actor's death never saw the light of day and most details of the case were kept under wraps at that time.
Emma Cooper directs The Mystery of Marilyn Monroe: The Unheard Tapes while Chris Smith (of Tiger King fame) serves as executive producer.
The subject of Marilyn Monroe's death will also be explored in Blonde, based on Joyce Carol Oates’ 2000 novel which gives a fictionalised look into the actor's life and her failed often abusive romantic relationships. Ana de Armas will play Monroe and joining her in the cast are Adrien Brody and Sara Paxton.
