The Mehta Boys tells the narrative of a feuding father and son who find themselves unexpectedly forced to spend a weekend together. The film, chronicling their turbulent journey, offers a sophisticated examination of the difficulties often present in a father-son relationship.
The Mehta Boys had its world premiere at the esteemed 15th Chicago South Asian Film Festival (CSAFF) in September 2024. It went on to win the Best Feature Film Award at the festival. Irani won the Best Actor award at the International Film Festival of South Asia in Toronto in October of the same year. The film premiered in Asia at the 2024 International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa and went on to inaugurate the 2025 Indian Film Festival in Berlin.
An incredibly satisfying adventure has been bringing The Mehta Boys to life, according to Irani. This project allowed him to delve into a whole new creative realm as a filmmaker, which has always captivated him as an actor because of the power of storytelling. The complex relationship between a parent and child has always fascinated him because of the honesty, relatability, and profound humanity in their interactions. Both the story and the staff were perfect; the actor couldn't have asked for more. Irani is pleased to share this vision with viewers worldwide beginning February 7, thanks to Alexander Dinelaris' fresh viewpoint moulding the story, Avinash, Shreya, and Puja's outstanding performances bringing the characters to life, and Prime Video's steadfast support.
