The Marsh King's Daughter, a psychological thriller, will soon make its OTT debut in India. The 2023 film, starring Daisy Ridley in the lead role, will be out on Lionsgate Play (also on OTTplay Premium) in May 2024. Neil Burger directed, and Elle Smith and Mark L. Smith wrote the film, which is based on Karen Dionne's 2017 novel of the same name. The Marsh King's Daughter features the acting talents of Gil Birmingham, Caren Pistorius, Ben Mendelsohn, Garrett Hedlund, and Daisy Ridley in the titular role.

A troubled lady returns to the woods she fled from in order to face her father, the most terrifying man she has ever encountered, in the suspenseful thriller. The film portrays the life of Helena (Daisy Ridley), whose estranged father, the notorious Marsh King (Ben Mendelsohn), held her mother and her daughter captive in the wilderness for years. This seemingly unremarkable life, however, conceals a dark and perilous truth.
Helena will have to face her demons when her dad gets out of jail. She must overcome her inner struggles and outwit the guy who taught her how to survive in the wilderness, knowing that he will want revenge on her and her family.

For the uninitiated, fame came to Daisy Ridley in 2019 after her portrayal of Rey in The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi (2017), and The Rise of Skywalker (a Star Wars sequel trilogy) (2015). In addition to her roles in Ophelia (2018) and Murder on the Orient Express (2017), she has acted in several other films.
Meanwhile, The Dark Knight Rises (2012), Starred Up (2013), Lost River (2014), Mississippi Grind (2015), Rogue One (2016), Darkest Hour (2017), and Ready Player One (2018) are just a few of Ben Mendelsohn's film credits. The actor received the 2016 Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role as the lead in the Netflix drama series Bloodline, which ran from 2015 to 2017. In the 2018 film Robin Hood, he portrayed the role of Sheriff of Nottingham. In the 2019 superhero flick Captain Marvel and the 2023 Disney+ series Secret Invasion, he made his MCU debut as Talos. The Outsider (2020), a crime miniseries on HBO, also featured him. In 2024, he made his television series debut as Christian Dior, the renowned fashion designer, on The New Look.
