The Legend of Bhagat Singh traced the life of the titular Indian revolutionary, who gave his life to the cause of fighting for the country’s independence. The film starred Ajay Devgn as the titular patriot, and the role seems to be one that the actor looks over fondly even after two decades. The movie, released in 2002, completed 20 years on Tuesday and Devgn penned a heartfelt note in tribute on the occasion.
Taking to his official social media handles, the actor shared comments written by fans, celebrating the film for its portrayal of the Indian revolutionary. In the caption of the post, Devgn spoke of how ‘proud’ and ‘grateful’ he was to have been a part of the ‘monumental’ film. He also added that the ‘sentiment’ of the film still remained strong in him as well as in the hearts of all Indians.

The actor continued his praise of the film on his Instagram stories as well. Talking about how the film had won the hearts of millions of Indians, he wrote “#TheLegendofBhagatSingh is a testament to how great cinema can remain relevant no matter the time”.
The 2002 film was directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. In addition to Devgn, the film also starred Sushant Singh, D. Santosh, Akhilendra Mishra, Raj Babbar, Farida Jalal and Amrita Rao. The Legend of Bhagat Singh can be streamed on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Voot.
Meanwhile, Devgn was last seen in Runway 34, which he also directed. The actor’s upcoming film releases include Indra Kumar’s Thank God, Amit Ravindernath Sharma’s Maidaan and Abhishek Pathak’s Drishyam 2.
