The Last of Us teaser: Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey undertake a treacherous journey in a dystopian world

After Game of Thrones, Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey will reunite on the silver screen in the upcoming series, The Last of Us. The series, based on the popular 2013 video game of the same name, recently unveiled its teaser, which shows the horror show in store for its protagonist.

The series gives a glimpse of a post-apocalyptic world where humans have fallen victim to the ravages of a deadly infection which renders them to slowly lose their humanity and become guided by their innate need to feed. In the midst of the chaos a smuggler named Joel is tasked with escorting a young girl, Ellie, safely out of the quarantine zone. Ellie has a strange resistance to the infection and may hold the key to developing a cure against the virus. But the duo’s journey is anything but smooth, as they have to protect themselves against a plethora of threats. The teaser’s glimpses into Joel and Ellie’s tumultuous journey seems to promise an emotionally charged and gripping horror thriller.

The upcoming show marks Pascal and Ramsey’s most recent collaboration, after appearing on HBO’s Game of Thrones. In addition to Pascal and Ramsey, the series also stars Gabriel Luna as Joel's younger brother Tommy, Nico Parker as Joel's daughter Sarah, and Merle Dandridge as Marlene, the leader of a resistance group.

The upcoming series comes from Craig Mazin, popular for his work on Chernobyl, and Neil Druckmann, the creative director of the original video game. The show will be produced under the banners of HBO, Sony Pictures, PlayStation Productions, Word Games and game developer Naughty Dog.

The series will premiere on HBO Max sometime next year. In India, the series is expected to air on Disney+ Hotstar. However, an official announcement regarding the same is yet to be made by the makers.
