The Kerala Story actor Adah Sharma joins Shreyas Talpade in upcoming thriller 'The Game of Girgit'

In the year 2015, a video of Russian teenager went viral wherein he posted a selfie with the caption "nya bye" before dying by suicide. What prompted him to opt for such a move? After days of investigation, the police officials blamed the “Blue Whale challenge", an online "suicide game" aimed at teenagers. Years later, this game made an entry in the Indian market. Driven by popularity and peer pressure, a few students across the country tried their hands on the game which had dire consequences. Observing this trend, the Government of India issued an advisory for parents or guardians for the safety of children.

Now, this story is being made into a film. Produced by Gandhar Films and Studio Pvt Ltd and directed by Vishal Pandya, actors Adah Sharma and Shreyas Talpade is all set to portray the role of a cop in the thriller ‘The Game of Girgit’.

Speaking about her role, Adah Sharma says, "In my upcoming film, I play the role of a cop based in Bhopal. The film is about an app called the Blue Whale. The game on the app consists of a series of tasks which finally leads one to either self-harm or harming someone else. Also, once one enters the game, there is no way out. I'm the one who aims to solve the case(s). Prior to bagging this role, I have also played the role of a cop in Commando 2: The Black Money Trail. So, I feel, it is fun to play the role of a cop, but it is essayed differently this time."

Actor Shreyas Talpade, too, feels enthusiastic about working on the film. He said, “The plot of the film is extremely interesting and that intrigued me to be associated with the film. The Game of Girgit is being directed by Vishal Pandya and I’m really looking forward to this journey. The thriller also has a powerful message that we strongly feel should reach the audiences, especially the kids and the youngsters of the nation.”

Talking about the same, Vishal says," The Game of Girgit is a story of today’s generation where young kids download apps and share personal details on it without any knowledge about its associated problems. Shreyas Talpade plays the role of an app developer who risks the lives of children and mints money. Adah, who is a cop, investigates such cases, including the ones where children die by suicide."
