The inside story behind Kamal Haasan, Sivakarthikeyan project which will be helmed by Rajkumar

When Kamal Haasan's production house Raaj Kamal Films International announced about a surprise a couple of days ago, many assumed that it would be a news related to the actor-filmmaker's upcoming project, Vikram, which is being directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The action flick is expected to be a summer release in theatres.

However, movie lovers were in for a big surprise when the production house came up with the announcement of Sivakarthikeyan acting as the lead under the banner's upcoming project. The icing on the cake was Sony Pictures Films India, too, joining Raaj Kamal Films International for bankrolling the film which will have Rangoon (streaming on Disney+ Hotstar) fame Rajkumar Periasamy at the helm.

A picture featuring Kamal, Siva and Rajkumar was also released from the social media handle of Ulaganayagan's production house, leaving Tamil film lovers into a tizzy. Later, the team also surprised fans of Bigg Boss Tamil by giving a surprise entry into the house. The untitled movie is Raaj Kamal's 51st project.

Apparently, Rajkumar has been a part of Bigg Boss Tamil reality show for sometime. A while ago, Kamal had asked him if he had any story with him for making a movie. The young filmmaker had two stories in his mind; while one was meant for a big budget entertainer, the other one was a simple story.    

He narrated the latter to Kamal and informed that he had narrated a story meant for a bigger canvas to Sony Pictures as well. Upon knowing this, Kamal and Sony decided to jointly produce the big budget project.

When Rajkumar suggested Sivakarthikeyan's name as the protagonist for the story, he was brought on board immediately by Kamal. Fans of Kamal and Siva are now eagerly waiting for a surprise update on the movie.
