With the 2019 war action film Uri: The Surgical Strike, which starred Vicky Kaushal in the title character, director Aditya Dhar earned a name for himself. The epic, The Immortal Ashwatthama, was announced after the film's enormous success, which was backed by Ronnie Screwvala's RSVP Movies. Since then, the movie has received media attention.
Vicky Kaushal was slated to play the major character in Aditya Dhar's future film, which is being produced by Ronnie. The producers wanted to create a visual spectacle on a tight budget. However, it appeared as though everything had gone awry as a result of alterations in Aditya's thinking. They apparently put the project on hold as a result. Jio Studios later brought it back to life.
Talking about the changes in the budget, a source told Etimes, "Director Aditya Dhar had made the war epic Uri for a mere 25 crore rupees though it looked like a 100-crore budget film. That’s because Aditya comes from the less-is-more school of filmmaking." They added, "Oh, that was Aditya Dhar after Uri. Now his priorities have changed. He now not only thinks but also spends big."
Aditya's first choice for the epic film was Vicky, but the production company insisted on a bigger star. According to reports, Ranveer Singh was being considered for the role and was on the verge of saying yes. According to current sources, the producers have chosen to pursue pan-Indian superstars instead of Jayeshbhai Jordaar actor instead.
According to a report by ETimes, Ram Charan, Jr. NTR, and Shah Rukh Khan are all considered for the role. Although the producers have not yet confirmed or denied the allegations, one of these superstars will probably star in Aditya's ambitious epic.
