The GOAT box office collection: The Thalapathy Vijay starrer directed by Venkat Prabhu has emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters from the Tamil cinema, in recent times. The Greatest Of All Time is reportedly set to cross the Rs. 100 crore mark with its all-India collection, and has touched the Rs. 350 crore mark with its worldwide collection. However, the recent updates suggest that The GOAT is struggling to achieve breakeven at Thalapathy Vijay’s biggest market, Kerala.

According to the latest updates, The Greatest Of All Time managed to collect around Rs. 12 crore within the first 7 days of its release, at the Kerala box office. Thus, the movie crossed the Day 1 collections of Leo, the previous release of Thalapathy Vijay in Kerala. For the uninitiated, the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial made a grand opening at the Kerala box office, by collecting Rs. 12 crore on Day 1. The Kerala box office performance of The GOAT came out as a big shock for both the makers of the film, as well as the Vijay fans.
The GOAT struggles to achieve breakeven in Kerala
If things follow at the same rate, The GOAT might not be able to achieve breakeven at the Kerala box office, within its lifetime run at the theatres. The Thalapathy Vijay starrer needs to cross the Rs. 40 crore mark at the Kerala box office, to achieve breakeven. However, with the successful theatrical run of the Onam special Malayalam releases, including Ajayante Randam Moshanam and Kishkindha Kandam, the Venkat Prabhu directorial is going to have a tough time ahead in the state.

The mixed reviews and negative word-of-mouth publicity have negatively impacted the box office performance of The Greatest Of All Time, at both the Kerala and North Indian box office. However, the movie has been performing extraordinarily well at both the Tamil Nadu and overseas box office, and is set to emerge as one of the highest grossing films both in the career of Thalapathy Vijay, as well as in the history of the Tamil film industry.
