Remember Matthew McConaughey's The Gentlemen? Released in 2019, the film received critical acclaim. It was a story about a wealthy American entrepreneur, Mickey Pearson, who built his fortune through a lucrative marijuana operation in London, decides to sell his empire. This news ignites a firestorm of plots and schemes from various underworld figures, all wrestling to seize control for themselves. Employing tactics like bribery and blackmail, these shady characters will stop at nothing to steal Pearson's kingdom.

The 2019 film was directed by Guy Ritchie, and now he returned with its spin-off, and kept the same name for it. This time, the spin-off is a eight-episode series, and not a film. Theo James plays the lead role of Duke of Halstead, Eddie Horniman, the estranged son of an English aristocrat. James is famous for White Lotus (2021) drama, for which Jennifer Coolidge won an Emmy Award this year. However, the spin-off, The Gentlemen will be released on March 7, 2024, only on Netflix.

The Gentlemen story

Eddie Horniman (Theo James), unprepared for the reality of inheriting his father's 15,000-acre estate, faces a secret that throws his life into chaos. The family fortune is built on something far more volatile than he anticipated. Now, a group of diverse people emerge, each with their own hilarious and outrageous schemes to claim a piece of the pie. Eddie, determined to extricate himself from this bizarre situation, finds himself caught in a whirlwind of suspense and absurdity, where the lines between laughter and danger are razor-thin.
