Stories centred around animals always make for a heartwarming watch. Netflix is all set for a treat for animal lovers, with its latest documentary. The upcoming documentary, The Elephant Whisperers tells the incredible true story of what unfolds when a kind elderly couple decide to take in an orphaned baby elephant, and the strong bond they develop after.
The trailer gives a glimpse into the life of an elderly couple, who find an orphaned elephant at the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve, Tamil Nadu in 2019. By virtue of their kindness, they decide to take the calf in, whom they name Raghu. Viewers get to see a day in the life of the elephant, who is showered with love and care by his foster parents. We see young Raghu start off his day by being woken up by his dad, going on long walks through the forest with his parents.
The playful young calf’s antics suggest how at ease he is with the couple, who lovingly bathe and call out to him, which makes Raghu come running. He is also seen to be a part of his parents’ poojas as well, even sporting a Vibuti on his forehead. The short trailer also provides an insight into the lives of Raghu’s parents, who are a part of a tribal community and live on the outskirts of the forest.
Raghu also seems to share a good bond with the children of his village, who are seen playing with him.
