Benedict Cumberbatch and Claire Foy have united for a biopic titled The Electrical Life of Louis Wain and the makers have dropped the first clip. In the film, the Oscar-nominated actor plays the titular role, who was an English artist. While Claire plays his on-screen wife Emily Richardson-Wain. In the new clip, Louis is seen barging inside Emily's room without knocking which angers her.
However, he apologises to her for his folly and she requests him to not look at the painting which she made. But, Louis visited her for another reason, that is, to ask her on a date. Emily likes the idea and calls it 'splendid' while he understands that she needs fresh air and cannot be cooped up inside a room. The video gives a glimpse into the start of their romance.
For the uninitiated, Louis Wain made paintings featuring large-eyed cats and kittens. He painted anthropomorphized cats which caught the attention of many instantly. He married Emily who was his sisters' governess when he was 23 and she was 10 years older than him. It was also being said that Wain suffered from schizophrenia.
The Electrical Life of Louis Wain is directed by Will Sharpe and co-written by Simon Stephenson. The movie also features Andrea Riseborough, Sharon Rooney, and Toby Jones in supporting roles. Jamie Demetriou, Hayley Squires, Stacy Martin, Julian Barratt, Aimee Lou Wood, Adeel Akhtar, Asim Chaudhry, Indica Watson, Sophia Di Martino, Olivier Richters, Olivia Colman, Nick Cave and Taika Waititi have been roped in to play important roles.
The film is set to have a release in the US on October 22, 2021, while it will drop on Amazon Prime Video on November 5, 2021.
