Poila Boishakh, Bengali New Year, is just around the corner and the Bengali film industry is gearing up for several big releases. Among them, Bangali detective Eken Babu’s second feature film The Eken – Ruddhaswas Rajasthan will be released on April 14. To mark the promotion marathon, Eken Babu, aka Anirban Chakrabarti, along with Suhotro Mukhopadhyay, Somak Ghosh, director Joydeep Mukherjee, and other cast members gathered at a city’s iconic Bengali food joint to introduce a special Bengali menu celebrate the Poila Boishakh festival.
Production house SVF, in association with Aaheli, hosted the event on Saturday. Besides the regular cast, the film also features, Rajesh Sharma, Sandipta Sen, and Rajatava Dutta.
Set in Rajasthan, the film delves into the rogue artifact smugglers. Anirban said, “This time the story is grand and so are our expectations. We have shot in Rajasthan which holds a very special place in our hearts as the nostalgia of Sonar Kella hits hard. I hope the audience will connect and shower their love on us.”
The evening also saw Somak and Suhotra enjoying themselves. After the success of multiple Eken Babu series on Hoichoi, the first feature film The Eken was released last year on Poila Boishakh. Pointing it out, Suhotra said, “The encouragement is humongous, and we are extremely happy that this year also ‘The Eken – Ruddhaswas Rajasthan’ will be in theatres, during the Poila Boishakh - becoming synonymous with the occasion”.
Based on the story of the late Sujan Dasgupta, the script and the dialogue for the movie are written by Padmanabha Dasgupta. The trailer of ‘The Eken – Ruddhaswas Rajasthan’ has already garnered a very good response from the audience. The franchise director, Joydeep said, “We received overwhelming feedback after the release of the first film last year. We are excited about this one also. This time, the case’s circumstances would cause Eken Babu to doubt everyone in his immediate vicinity. And I’m confident that the plot twists will have viewers on the edge of their seats.”
This film will mark Sandipta’s debut in a feature film. She will be seen in the role of a curator at the Jaisalmer Museum from Kolkata. “It was quite a fun experience shooting in the exotic locations of Rajasthan. The film promises to be an amazing ride for every audience group,” she said.
