The Day of the Jackal, a 10-part TV adaption of the Frederick Forsyth novel of the same name, which also had a film version back in 1973, is set for release. Led by Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne, as an assassin known only as The Jackal, The Day of the Jackal follows the cat-and-mouse game between him and a British intelligence agent, Bianca (Lashana Lynch), who is determined to capture him, a task her bosses don’t think is doable. Besides being a very effective assassin, The Jackal is also known to be the master of disguises, allowing him to blend in anywhere.

The Day of the Jackal on JioCinema

Directed by Brian Kirk, as a Sky and Peacock Original series, The Day of the Jackal has been reimagined as a modern-day political thriller by Ronan Bennett. The series will release in the UK and parts of Europe on November 7, and on Peacock on November 14. Viewers in India will have access to it on November 15 on JioCinema Premium, where it will be available with English and Hindi audio options. . Reports suggest that the first 5 episodes of the show will drop on November 15, followed by 3 weekly releases, with the final 2 streaming together on December 13.

The Day of the Jackal also stars Úrsula Corberó (Money Heist), Charles Dance (Game of Thrones), Richard Dormer (Secret Invasion), Chukwudi Iwuji (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3), Lia Williams (His Dark Materials), among many others. Forsyth served as creative consultant on the show, on which Redmayne and Lynch are executive producers.

In the novel, which was published in 1971, the Jackal is an English hitman hired to assassinate the French president, even as the deputy commissioner of police is hot on his pursuit. The first film adaptation had Edward Fox as the Jackal, while a 1997 version had Bruce Willis as the master of disguise assassin.
