With the streaming of its last six episodes on December 14, Peter Morgan's revolutionary series The Crown will conclude, ushered in by the new millennium in Season 6, Part 2, on Netflix. At the end of Part 1, we left off with the British royal family dealing with the aftermath of the car crash in Paris that killed Princess Diana (Elizabeth Debicki) and Dodi Fayed (Khalid Abdalla).

Post-Diana tragedy:

Set a few months after the catastrophe, Prince William (now portrayed by newcomer Ed McVey) and Prince Harry attend the University of St. Andrews as they mature. When William meets Kate Middleton, played by Meg Bellamy, a fellow university student, it's time for a royal romance, as these first looks reveal.

Meanwhile, Meg told Tudum that it was a real privilege, for sure, and such a pleasure to join the cast of such an acclaimed series. She shared that it's great to finally be celebrating the show, and being a part of it is pretty crazy. Being a part of the show is incredible in any way, according to Ed, who has also been a fan of the series. He thought it was great.

Expanding love stories

As we near the end of The Crown, more than just William finds love. The sneak peek shot of Charles and Camilla's wedding shows that the royal wedding bells are ringing. Dominic West and Olivia Williams are the actors involved. Speaking to Netflix during production, the actor said that the last third is much happier for Charles as it ends with his marriage to Camilla. He went on to say that filming that moment was amazing in terms of scale. Five hundred additional men with them were kneeling in York Minster.

Season 6, Part 2, will see the return of Imelda Staunton, Jonathan Pryce, and Lesley Manville as their respective characters, Princess Margaret, Prince Philip, and Queen Elizabeth II. As Harry, the teenager, Luther Ford also makes an appearance.

The weight of Playing Queen Elizabeth II

Telling Tudum, Ford continued that he thinks the calibre of actors that The Crown has always had is such a big draw of the show, and obviously, it's a mental thing to join and be a part of that. Stepping into the role of Queen Elizabeth II was not just an enormous undertaking for Staunton, but the actor also made an effort to comprehend the burden that the queen bore. When Staunton met Queen Elizabeth II, she said that she felt as though the weight of the world and her entire life rested on her shoulders, a sentiment that many people who have met her have experienced. The veteran actor added that people told her, "You're looking at history." There is a monarch, and it took an incredible amount of dignity for her to maintain her air of royalty.

Since its 2016 debut, The Crown has showcased the abilities of its creative team while also launching the careers of actors like Claire Foy and Emma Corrin. Upon reaching this point, executive producer Suzanne Mackie expresses her relief to Tudum. As challenging as conquering Mount Everest. "Oh my god, that's it" is the feeling one experiences when reaching the peak. She doesn't know what to do next. People grow close to each other when they work on a show of this magnitude and notoriety with a crew that has collaborated closely for a decade. Even though she is upset about how it all ended, she is glad they made it this far.

On December 14, you can watch Part 2 of Season 6 of The Crown on Netflix.
