It looks like the future of The Bull is bleak! A fresh report suggests that Salman Khan will no longer be playing the lead role in the film. The superstar has decided to quietly exit the film due to production delays. In 2023, the collaboration between Salman Khan and Karan Johar for The Bull received widespread attention. Their reunion on this Vishnu Vardhan-directed project came after a 25-year hiatus.
Produced by Karan's Dharma Productions and directed by Vishnu Vardhan of Shershaah fame, the project seemed like a promising one. However, there is an unfortunate update today. Despite its initial filming target of November 2023, the production experienced delays, moving the start date to January, February, and eventually May 2024. After discussions, Karan sought a July timeframe from Salman.
According to a report published by Bollywood Hungama this afternoon, “After a lot of back and forth on the dates, Karan and Vishnu were still not able to commit to the exact timelines of the shoot. That’s when Salman conveyed his decision to back out of the project. Salman politely informed his decision to Karan.”
“Bhai said, ‘Destiny doesn’t want this film to happen, so let’s move on.’ Karan is exploring newer ideas for a collaboration with Salman,” read the report.
Only time will confirm whether this news is true or not. In December 2023, a press release revealed that Salman was scheduled to play Brigadier Farukh Bulsara, who led the Maldives' Operation Cactus in 1988. He was to portray a paramilitary officer, and filming was planned for February.
Notably, during the promotion of Tiger 3, Salman Khan confessed to the media that his upcoming film is The Bull. Karan and Salman previously worked together in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, which also saw Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Rani Mukerji in the lead roles.
On Salman's 58th birthday on December 27, 2023, Karan Johar extended his wishes through an Instagram post, which read, “Happy birthday Salman! So much love and respect for you always. Also, 25 years later we will finally have a story to tell again... not saying any more than that.”
