Popular singer Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, who made her acting debut with the Netflix show, Feels Like Ishq, will next be seen in The Broken News with Sonali Bendre. The show, directed by Vinay Waikul, is about two rival TV news networks with different ideologies. While one channel, Awaaz Bharati is an ethical and credible news channel, the other channel, Josh 24/7 News is all about sensationalism and invasive journalism.

The singer-turned-actor will play the role of a journalist alongside Sonali Bendre in the ZEE5 show. Sonali Bendre portrays the character of her boss. According to ETimes, speaking about her experience working with Sonali Bendre, the singer said she is in awe with her. She was floored by her humility and added that the 90s actor was “extremely gracious, approachable, humble and strikingly elegant.”

She added that the actor also helped her with her lines. "She was there to catch my nerves if I ever faltered. Not once did I feel intimidated by her presence," she said and added that she is easy-going and she loved that about her.

The show, apart from Sonali and Sanjeeta, also features Jaideep Ahlawat, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Taaruk Raina, Indraneil Sengupta, Faisal Rashid, Kiran Kumar and Aakash Khurana. Sanjeeta also formed close ties with Shriya on the sets. She said the two got close immediately and they shared some great conversations about their experiences and advice for each other. They went on lunch dates too. "We were quite inseparable on the sets,” said the graduate of Berklee College of Music.

She also shares the screen with Taaruk Raina, who was her high school bandmate. Calling it a 'greatest coincidence', she said she felt 'safe' working on the show with 'lovely bunch of people'.

At a very young age of 27, Sanjeeta is juggling between her music and acting careers quite well. When asked what would be her first choice if she had to pick, she responded, saying that she could like others balance both equally. She doesn't want to choose one. "I am grateful for the opportunities I have and hope to continue down this path. I hope to work with the likes of Shah Rukh Khan and SS Rajamouli," she said. She added that the south industry is producing some 'incredible films' and she would like to also sing for her films.

The ZEE5 show, The Broken News, will be out on June 10.
