Actor Akshay Oberoi started the year 2024 on a high note with the release of Fighter where he was appreciated for his role. After the commercial project, the actor is now recently seen in Sonali Bendre, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Shriya Pilaonkar starrer The Broken News Season 2. The show, which is currently streaming on Zee5 is getting a lot of love from the viewers.
Recently, the actor spoke with OTTplay in an exclusive conversation where he talked about how social media pressure and the pressure of being relevant and being everywhere is sort of affecting the craft.
Speaking about how he maintains the authenticity of his craft in the changing dynamics of the entertainment industry with a lot of competition, Akshay Oberoi said, “I try to stay away from all the noise which says ‘do this, do that, to go to this party or post this on social media, to start your YouTube channel and what not’ but if you get into all these things then your craft is taking a slow death. You have to be honest to yourself, if you are honest to yourself, the world will be honest to the characters you play.
"And somewhere I feel that our actors today focus on all the things about which event to attend, how your hair is looking or which famous stylist are you wearing and how can you stand out wearing different clothes but who is talking about the craft? Who is talking about the acting? About the work? That’s a very sad part!" Akshay added.
Meanwhile, speaking about the second season of The Broken News, the show focuses on the battle between two news channels in terms of viewership vs truth. Talking about the same, the actor revealed how he has earned more respect for the journalists, now that he has seen the pressure of news houses to bring in the best news possible.
The Broken News Season 2, directed by Vinay Waikul, is currently streaming on Zee5 since May 3, 2024.
