Hugh Jackman is synonymous among movie lovers with the Wolverine, having played the role in nine movies. But there have been rumours recently about the character appearing again on screen and about who is playing it. Karl Urban, who is a popular actor following his role in The Boys, is one name that is mentioned as the possible next Wolverine. The actor has now responded to the rumours and to some fans demanding it.

Talking to The Guardian, the actor said, “It’s flattering, but you have to rationally think about it. I’m what, two years younger than Hugh Jackman? I mean, if I was a studio looking to cast someone as Wolverine, I’d pick someone I’ll get three films out of.”

The actor then joked that you would not get three films out of Karl Urban as The Wolverine, unless people want a 65-year-old Wolverine.

While it is known that Logan/Wolverine ages considerably slower than the average human in the comics and the movies, one of the aspects that still stood out of Jackman playing the role was the age and rugged looks. Karl Urban looks to be in the right age frame to do the role, and this is one of the reasons fans are calling his name out for the role.

While Jackman started his journey as the adamantium clawed mutant in 2000’s X-Men, the actor went on to appear in the role for eight more movies. His final appearance as the Wolverine came in the 2017 movie, Logan.

Following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, fans are almost certain that they will get to see Wolverine return to the big screen. With the likes of Jason Momoa and Tom Hardy among actors who could play the mutant, as being discussed by the fans, Urban would not be a bad choice.
