The Batman actor Paul Dano reveals he had trouble sleeping after playing The Riddler

Matt Reeves’ dark and gritty take on The Caped Crusader titled The Batman is one of the most anticipated films of the year. With Robert Pattison helming the cape and the cowl, Paul Dano will also be seen in the film, playing The Riddler. 

There has always been considerable focus on Batman villains in cinema and Dano’s Riddler is another one of them. The actor has now opened up about his role ahead of the film’s release, saying he did not sleep well some nights. 

Talking with EW to promote The Batman, the actor said, “There's a sequence with Peter Sarsgaard's character [Gil Colson]. That was intense. There were some nights around that I probably didn't sleep as well as I would've wanted to just because it was a little hard to come down from this character.

He added that it takes a lot of energy to become the character and so he has to sustain it once he is there because going up and down is hard. 

While different Batman movies have taken various stories to tell, Reeves will be following a young, rich and orphan Bruce Wayne in his early years as The Dark Knight in Gotham. This will also be the first time The Riddler is making an appearance in a Batman movie after Jim Carrey's version in Batman Forever in 1995. 

From the snippets fans have gotten of The Riddler from the f ilm, Dano will be seen as a more formidable foe to Batman. Telling a darker tale , both the actors have a chance to showcase their acting skills in The Batman.

Also starring Jeffrey Wright, Collin Farrell, Zoë Kravitz, and Andy Serkis, the film is set to hit theaters on March 4, 2022.
