Disney is currently developing a live-action version of the classic 1970 animated film The Aristocats.
Variety has confirmed the same and writes that Peter Rabbit director Will Gluck and Onward writer Keith Bunin will co-write the script. Gluck will also serve as a producer through his company Olive Bridge Entertainment.
The 1970 film follows a pampered cat Duchess and her three kittens Berlioz, Marie and Toulouse as they try to find their way back home after their owner's butler, who upon discovering that they will inherit a massive fortune, kidnaps and abandons them in the countryside.
Disney animator Wolfgang Reitherman had directed the film whose voice cast included Phil Harris, Eva Gabor, Hermione Baddeley, Dean Clark, Sterling Holloway, Scatman Crothers and Roddy Maude-Roxby.
According to Variety, The Aristocats earned a total of $191 million worldwide upon release. It is also known for its music by George Burns.
Deadline writes that since the live-action adaptation's development is in its early stages, not more is known about the film. It is also not known whether it will have a theatrical or streaming release. However, sources have told the outlet that the look and feel of the adaptation will be similar to 2019's Lady in the Tramp.
