It's here! The trailer for The Archies is out, and after teasing with two songs and a teaser, we now have an idea of what the film is all about. The Zoya Akhtar-directed film based on the famous comics brings these iconic characters to life. From Archie, Betty, and Veronica to Jughead, Reggie, Dilton, and Ethel, everyone has a story to tell. Based in the 1960s, the story is set against the backdrop of the hill station of Riverdale in India.
Plot overview:
The trailer shows how these kids, who are in their late teens, are rebels with a cause. They fight for their beloved town while exploring their lives too. Suhana, as Veronica, is shown as a spoilt brat who moves to Riverdale from London. Little does she know that the people with whom she gets close are the enemies of her father, Hiram Lodge (Alyy Khan). He wants to turn Riverdale into a commercial centre, and the people living in the town don't want it to lose its essence. Thus begins the fight and protests that make up The Archies.

Nostalgic vibes of 1960s Riverdale
Farhan Akhtar wrote the dialogue for The Archies, which makes each character interesting given the time period and the fact that they are all newcomers. Moreover, Riverdale is a town that will remind you of the iconic 1960s, when Irani cafes were in, rock-and-roll was the go-to jam, and fashion was at its best.
The leading cast includes Agastya Nanda as Archie Andrews, Suhana Khan as Veronica Lodge, Khushi Kapoor as Betty Cooper, Mihir Ahuja as Jughead Jones, Vedang Raina as Reggie Mantle, Aditi Saigal (Dot) as Ethel Muggs, and Yuvraj Menda as Dilton Doiley.
The Archies is directed by Zoya Akhtar, and she has co-produced the film with Reema Kagti. The film is set to premiere on Netflix on December 7, 2023.
