OTTplay caught up with the extremely talented Chandan Roy Sanyal for an exclusive interview
Chandan, in a nutshell, what exactly is Patna Shuklla all about?
Overall, Patna Shuklla is basically a fight against the system which stars Raveena Tandon and me, fighting against each other. It’s basically a courtroom battle. If I had to tell you in a nutshell, then, it will be a courtroom drama where two people are revolting and fighting about the educational system.
Why this very unique title 'Patna Shuklla'?
I think that the director will be in a position to tell this answer as to why and how he thought of this title! (smiles). But, one thing is for sure that, whenever one sees ‘Patna Shuklla’, you will get to know the reason behind the title.
Patna Shuklla is being released on an OTT platform and not in a theatre. Tell us, what is that one thing that you will miss about the film not being released in theatres?
I think that I will surely miss the theatres. Growing up in the ninety’s, all of us have fond memories associated with the theatres. Be it buying the tickets or even popcorn or even saving the money to buy the tickets. The ‘adrenaline rush’ of watching a film in theatre is simply second to none. Say for example, a film like Lagaan, whenever Aamir Khan used to pick up his bat to hit a six or a four… the entire theatre had almost become like a stadium! Watching any film with the community is what I feel and believe to be the best way to watch a film.
Is this the first time you are playing a lawyer?
Yes… I am playing the role of a lawyer for the first time in my entire career.
