Arjun Ashokan and Ganapathy’s much-delayed Thattassery Koottam is finally set to hit theatres. The movie, which marks the directorial debut of actor Dileep’s brother Anoop, had completed shooting much before the pandemic but has been delayed due to various factors including the lockdowns.

The makers have also revealed that the film’s streaming rights as well as satellite rights have been sold before it hits theatres on November 11. Apart from Arjun Ashokan and Ganapathy, the film also has Priyamvada Krishnan, Sreelakshmi, Vijayaraghavan, Aneesh Gopal and Shiny Sara in pivotal roles.

In a recent press meet, the film’s scriptwriter Santosh Echikkanam said, “It is based on the life of a few goldsmiths. The movie is a family entertainer with elements of a thriller. The story is also told in a realistic manner.” The writer, who had previously scripted Nidra, Annayum Rasoolum, Chandrettan Evideya and Njan Steve Lopez, also said that some of the scenes in the film are based on real-life events.

While Arjun plays a goldsmith in the film, Ganapathy essays the role of a JCB driver, who is the more responsible one in their friend circle. Thattassery Koottam is also produced by actor Dileep. This marks his fourth production that doesn’t feature him in the lead role. Vineeth Sreenivasan’s Malarvady Arts Club, Sarath Kumar’s Metro and Vishnu Unnikrishnan’s Kattapanayile Rithwik Roshan are the other films.

The streaming rights of the film has been bagged by ZEE5 while ZEE Malayalam has grabbed the satellite rights of the movie, which will clash with Vineeth Sreenivasan’s Mukundan Unni Associates when it hits theatres on Friday.

ZEE5 will also have another Malayalam release – Suresh Gopi’s Mei Hoom Moosa – dropping on the platform on November 11. Thattassery Koottam is expected to begin streaming on ZEE5 by the end of this year. Arjun Ashokan’s previous release Super Sharanya’s OTT rights were also bagged by the platform.
