In the upcoming Netflix film Thar, we will see Anil Kapoor and son Harshvarrdhan Kapoor sharing the screen for the second time after Ak vs Ak (2020). The stars recently opened up about their latest collaboration in the Netflix film.

In a conversation with Hindustan Times, Anil Kapoor began by stating that in Thar, they play very different characters who have nothing in common, unlike the characters he had played with his daughter Sonam Kapoor in their previous films The Zoya Factor and Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga (both 2019). In both the films, he portrayed Sonam’s father on screen as well. The veteran actor went on to say that if he had the choice to do a film with his children, he would prefer they play strangers, saying he would like to see how they would cross paths in the film.

Harsh also spoke about the film, claiming that it is not a star-driven movie, but rather a character-driven one.

When asked if he was treated differently on the sets since he was Anil Kapoor's son, he said no. He added that the directors he worked with, including Vikramaditya Motwane, Vasan Bala and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra couldn't care less about the fact that he was Anil Kapoor’s son.

On whether he’s given his children any acting advice, Anil said, "You'd be shocked, but I don't offer my kids much advice. I delegate authority to them and then step back. I had no involvement in any of the films Mirzya (2016), Bhavesh Joshi (2018), AK vs AK (2020), Ray (2021), and now Thar for Harsh. He's got these flicks all by himself."

Anil Kapoor is also a producer, and when asked if he felt any different because he acted in the film, he said, "When I am on set, I am not the producer, I am just the actor".

When Harsh was asked how he came on board for this film and how he convinced his father to join the cast, he said it was a pretty long journey. Director Raj Singh Chaudry and Harsh came on board for the movie in 2018 and Anil Kapoor towards the end of 2019. The movie was shot last year and is set to release on Netflix on May 6th.
