Thani Oruvan 2, the sequel to Jayam Ravi starrer Thani Oruvan, will reportedly start rolling from April 2024. According to sources, the Mohan Raja directorial will tentatively commence shooting from the second week of April next year. Earlier this year, the filmmaker had announced the sequel to the 2015 action thriller movie. On the film’s eighth anniversary, the makers released a promo video of the sequel, announcing that both Jayam and Nayanthara will reprise their roles.
The upcoming film is expected to be an extension of the first part, and the team is currently in discussions regarding the antagonist for the sequel. Hip Hop Thamizha, who had scored music for Thani Oruvan, will be onboard for the new project as well. Jayam, who is currently shooting for Brother and Genie, also has Kadhalikka Neramillai with Nithya Menen in the offing. So, he is likely to begin shooting for Thani Oruvan 2 after wrapping up the other two projects.

Earlier this year, it was officially announced by the team that Thani Oruvan 2 is in the making. Taking it to social media, director Mohan wrote, “On this #8yearsofThanioruvan proudly joining for the 3rd time with @Ags_production , 4th time with the lady superstar #Nayanthara AND 7th time with MY DEARMOST @actor_jayamravi.”
Arvind Swamy too will reprise his role in the sequel?
Arvind Swamy - who made a smashing comeback with Thani Oruvan as the cold-blooded, conniving scientist Siddharth Abhimanyu - has wished the team behind the second instalment. Now, fans are hoping that he too reprises his role in the sequel as a twin brother. However, other than an update about the lead actors, there have been no announcements about the rest of the cast and crew.

Jayam had earlier said that his 30th film, Brother, would be directed by M Rajesh, who has previously helmed movies like Siva Manasula Sakthi and Oru Kal Oru Kannadi. Brother features Priyanka Mohan as the female lead, while the cast also includes Bhumika Chawla, Saranya Ponvannan, VTV Ganesh, Natty, Seetha, Achyuth and Rao Ramesh.
Jayam and the makers of Brother recently released the movie’s first-look poster and announced that it will be released in Tamil and Telugu. Expressing his excitement about the project on social media, Jayam wrote, “Excited to be a ‘#Brother,’ a word that connects us all Releasing worldwide in Tamil & Telugu !!! #BrotherMovie #BrotherFirstLook Happy #VinayagarChathurthi (sic).” The poster features the actor crossing a busy road over to greener surroundings.
