Thangalaan: Vikram and Pa Ranjith to announce the release date in a few hours

There's good news for Chiyaan Vikram fans. The update about his much-awaited film, Thangalaan is all set to be announced at 5pm today. The film, directed by Pa Ranjith, is slated for release for Pongal, 2024. Vikram made the announcement with a brand new poster on his social media handle that the deets about the release date will be revealed today.

All about Thangalaan
Thangalaan marks Vikram's maiden collaboration with Pa Ranjith and the film is billed as a period drama, which is set in the pre-independence era. The plot revolves around the backdrop of Kolar Gold Fields and the discrimination faced by a marginalized community. The film's director had earlier revealed that the plot was inspired by true events in the lives of mine workers at KGF.

Going by the sneak peek, it looks like Thangalaan revolves around how the community fights for its respect. Vikram is said to be playing the titular character, leader of a tribal group. The making video had already set the internet on fire and Vikram's look had the netizens in awe.

Thangalaan star cast and crew
The film has an ensemble cast including Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan and Pasupathy, Harikrishnan Anbudurai, Preeti Karan and Muthukumar to name a few. Music for the film is by GV Prakash Kumar, cinematography is by A Kishor Kumar and editing is by Selva RK. Art direction for the film is by SS Murti and action choreography is by Stunner Sam. The film is bankrolled by KE Gnanavel Raja's Studio Green.

Meanwhile, Vikram's long-delayed film, Dhruva Natchathiram is all set to hit screens on November 24. The film, directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, has been lying in the cans for a while now and is finally back in the fray.
