Thangalaan release update – Vikram and Pa Ranjith’s film to hit theatres after 2024 elections

Thangalaan, the highly anticipated project, marks the first onscreen collaboration between popular star Vikram and celebrated filmmaker Pa. Ranjith. The movie, which is touted to be a period action film, has garnered the attention of cine-goers with its highly promising teaser which was released a couple of months ago. Earlier, Thangalaan was originally supposed to be released in January 2024, as a Republic Day special release.

However, the release of the Chiyaan Vikram starrer has been delayed indefinitely, reportedly because the post-production work is taking more time than expected. But now, sources close to the Pa. Ranjith directorial have dropped a major update about the release plans.

Thangalaan to be released after the 2024 elections?

In a recent chat with a leading online media company, Dhananjayan, the CEO of production banner Studio Green, opened up about the Thangalaan release plans. Interestingly, the producer revealed that the makers are planning to release the highly anticipated Chiyaan Vikram starrer only after the 2024 elections. Dhananjayan feels that the entire focus of the people will be on the elections for at least the next few months. He feels it is safe to release the Pa. Ranjith directorial after the elections, as it will help the promotions and get more reach.

Thangalaan production is finished

Dhananjayan also confirmed that the entire production of Thangalaan, including the re-recording and dubbing works, has been finished. In fact, it is possible to release the film in April 2024 as planned if they kickstart the promotions by now. However, the team fears that the elections might negatively impact the performance of the film at the box office. Well, from this statement, it is safe to assume that Pa. Ranjith’s film deals with a very powerful topic, which is even relevant in today’s socio-political scenario.

Along with Vikram, Thangalaan features Parvathy Thiruvothu, Pasupathy, Malavika Mohanan, Daniel Caltagirone, Harikrishnan Anbudurai, and others in pivotal roles. GV Prakash Kumar has composed the songs and the original score. Kishor Kumar is the director of photography. Selva RK handles the editing. Thangalaan is jointly produced by Pa Ranjith’s Neelam Productions and Studio Green.
