An update on Thangalaan is coming out at least a week in recent times. A few days ago, Malavika Mohanan, who plays a crucial role in the film, was seen indulging in silambam practice for her role in the movie. The much-awaited project is likely to be Vikram's next outing.

Pa Ranjith, who has been helming the period flick which has a story set in the 19th century, is upbeat about the way the film is progressing. He went gaga over the dedication of every artist and crew members in the movie and revealed that they have shot for 105 days till now.

The Sarpatta Parambarai filmmaker also spilled the beans on how he has approached the story of people who were instrumental in developing Kolar Gold Fields. "Thangalaan will touch upon the landscape that existed in that time period and the lives of people. Their hardships and culture will be thoroughly depicted," he said in a recent interaction.

On Chiyaan Vikram's prep for his character, he added that the former has kept all other commitments at bay for around seven months. The Ponniyin Selvan 2 star apparently lost a few kilos and worked on his hairstyle to meet the story's requirements.

An elated Ranjith also revealed that Vikram thoroughly enjoyed the experience and that the latter called him to convey the same after a few days into the project going on floors. Out of the 105 days they shot for the film, almost 70 days involved various risks and that shooting was possible only because of the cooperation from all actors, he said.

The director is expected to begin work on Sarpatta 2, the most-expected sequel with Arya in the lead after he completes Thangalaan.
