At the teaser launch event for his upcoming film Thangalaan, filmmaker Pa Ranjith expressed his deep admiration for Tamil superstar Chiyaan Vikram's outstanding dedication and work ethic.

During a press gathering in Chennai on Wednesday, Ranjith unveiled the Thangalaan teaser, subsequently sharing it with the public online. The teaser received a positive reception, with everyone intrigued by Vikram's on-screen presence in the movie.

"I like Vikram sir very much. I have been a fan of his work since my college days. He's a very artistic actor and I can't see him in commercial movies. He has done commercial movies and achieved success. But, as an actor, he has great value. That's one of the reasons why I was so eager to work with him," Ranjith said.

The director revealed that he picked a period drama like Thangalaan because he had faith in Vikram's acting talent to elevate the film to another level.

"I just gave him a few character sketches and photographs for reference for his look. And he transformed into his character before coming to the sets. There was no need for any additional adjustments from my end. Instead, he offered me a variety of options to select from," he added.

Not just Vikram, Ranjith promised that the audience will see the best work of Parvathy and Malavika Mohanan too.

"I have been awestruck by the efforts put in by each actor in this film. The audience may not always appreciate the hard work that goes into a movie. What truly matters to them is whether the film resonates with them or not. If a film fails to connect, they may not delve into other details. However, this film will captivate the audience to the extent that they will notice even the smallest nuances, discuss them, and passionately support it," he said.

Thangalaan is due in cinemas on January 26, 2024.
