Thandel is Naga Chaitanya's upcoming film, set to hit the screens on February 7, 2025. The trailer was released in Vizag recently and garnered a lot of attention, winning the hearts of many. The chemistry between Chay and Sai Pallavi showcased in the trailer has created a solid buzz for the film.
Thandel is Naga Chaitanya’s biggest film to date and has also gone over budget. Confident about the film’s outcome, the makers sold the theatrical rights for a whopping price. To break even at the box office, Thandel needs to gross at least ₹85 crore worldwide.
The makers are already in profit, as half of the film's budget has been recovered through the OTT rights. Netflix acquired the OTT rights for a massive ₹45 crore. In addition to this, the audio, satellite, and other rights have earned the makers big money. Now, the pressure is on the distributors, who bought the film for exorbitant prices.
Sai Pallavi, one of the film's major selling points, has a massive fan following. Her pairing with Chay, which was well-received in their previous film Love Story, has taken things to the next level. Thanks to their chemistry, Thandel is expected to open big.
However, Thandel faces stiff competition. Not one, but three decent medium-budget films—Vishwak Sen's Laila, Brahmanandam's Brahma Anandam, and Kiran Abbavaram's Dilruba—are releasing on February 14, 2025. So, Thandel will need strong word-of-mouth to maintain its box office momentum through Valentine's Day weekend.
Directed by Chandoo Mondeti, who is riding high on the success of his last film Karthikeya 2 with Nikhil Siddhartha, Thandel has been produced by the legendary Allu Aravind, who has planned special promotions to keep the film in the spotlight. Allu Aravind recently watched the film and praised the performances.
Music for the film is composed by DSP, and all the songs released so far have become big hits. Things are looking promising ahead of the release, but the box office target seems ambitious. We’ll have to wait and see if Chay and Sai Pallavi manage to create a new career milestone. Stay tuned for more updates!
