Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna are all set to be part of Dinesh Vijan's horror comedy Thama. The film, which will be an important part of Dinesh Vijan's horror universe, was announced last year in October. Now, a new update is coming in: Abhishek Banerjee, who has played the role of Jana in Vijan's horror comedies Stree and Bhediya, has revealed whether he will be part of Aditya Sarpotdar’s directorial.
While talking about the upcoming film in the horror universe, Abhishek gave a hint about whether he will be present in the film or not. Though he didn't confirm anything, his reaction made us believe that there is a good possibility he might be present in the next film of the franchise. In a conversation with Indian Express, when he was asked if he is part of the film or not, he shared, "I am a part of the horror universe, I can just tell you that much. But jahaan aatank hoga wahan Jana toh hoga hi. So let’s see.”
Thama is the fifth film in Dinesh Vijan's and Maddock's horror universe, and the film is said to revolve around the story of a vampire. Ayushmann Khurrana, who will play the lead role in the film, shared, "I'm excited that Dinesh Vijan feels this is the best time for me to enter his blockbuster horror-comedy universe in and as Thama. After Stree 2 became the all-time biggest Bollywood film in the history of Hindi cinema, I am thrilled to be part of this universe's legacy as it moves forward and also feel responsible for giving audiences a theatrical experience that they will remember for years to come."
Maddock Films ventured into the horror-comedy genre in India with the 2018 blockbuster Stree. The film was loved by many, and the second part of the same movie became one of the biggest blockbuster hits. After Stree, there were three more horror films that came as part of this horror universe, including Varun Dhawan's Bhediya, Abhay Verma's Munjya, and Stree 2. Now, they have announced an interesting lineup with a total of eight movies that will be released over the span of four years.
This year, 2025, will see Thama and Shakti Shalini, while Bhediya 2 and Chamunda will be released in 2026. Stree 3 and Maha Munjiya will hit the big screen in 2027, and the horror universe's endgame will come in 2028 with Pehla Mahayudh and Doosara Mahayudh.
