The Custody director made the announcement with a post on social media

It's official at last! Venkat Prabhu is indeed directing Vijay's next, which is tentatively being referred to as Thalapathy 68. The official announcement was made the Custody director on his social media handle today. Taking to his social media handle, Venkat Prabhu dropped a short video about the announcement and captioned it,"Dreams do come true God is kind #Thalapathy68 (sic)." The film is bankrolled by AGS Entertainment.

A video, too, has surfaced on social media in which Venkat Prabhu is seen expressing his desire to work with the Leo star. "It has always been my wish to do a film with Vijay. I am working on a story that I want to be in such a manner that it impresses Vijay a lot. It hope it excites him so much that he gets on board. As the days go by, I am more hopeful about the collaboration. I hope I get done with the story soon and narrate hom the script as really want to work with him."
In the video, Venkat Prabhu is also seen admiring Vijay." When I watch him in the songs in Beast, I wonder how the man still looks the same. He knows how to entertain audience from across the age groups- be it 6 ot 60 years old." Yuvan Shankar Raja will score the music for the film.
Social media has been abuzz with the news about Thalapathy 68 for quite some time now and now fans can heave a sigh of relief now that an official announcement has been made.
Meanwhile, we hear that the Thalapathy would be getting a whopping sum of Rs 200 crore as his salary for the project. If this happens, Vijay will be the highest paid actor in India.
Vijay is busy working on Lokesh Kanagaraj's Leo which is likely to give him a pan-India appeal. The film has Vijay teaming up with Trisha, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja, Gautham Menon, Mysskin, Sandy Master, Joju George, Babu Antony, Priya Anand and Mathew Thomas to name a few.
