If the buzz in the industry is to be believed, Siddhartha Nuni, who had cranked the camera for films like Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu, Captain Miller and Lucia, has been roped as the Director of Photography for Thalapathy68. Social media has been abuzz with the news since this morning.

This is the first time that Venkat Prabhu is directing Vijay in his film, which is tentatively being referred to as Thalapathy 68. The official announcement was made recently on his social media handle, along with a short video. The Custody director captioned it, "Dreams do come true God is kind #Thalapathy68 (sic)." The film is bankrolled by AGS Entertainment.

Venkat Prabhu had earlier expressed his interest in teaming up with Vijay for a film. He had stated that he wanted to narrate so well that Thalapathy agreed to do the film immediately. Meanwhile, Thalapathy is likley being paid a whopping sum of Rs 200 crore as his salary for the project.

Venkat Prabhu had last directed Custody, an action thriller which starred Naga Chaitanya in the lead. The film marked his debut in Tamil and had Krithi Shetty playing the leading lady. Custody was shot both in Tamil and Telugu. The supporting cast included Aravind Swamy, Priyamani, R Sarathkumar and Sampath Raj. The film opened to mixed reviews at the box office and failed to make an impact.

On the other hand, Vijay is shooting for Lokesh Kanagaraj's Leo, which has been teaming up with Trisha after 14 long years. The film has an ensemble star cast including Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mysskin, Sandy Master, Babu Antony, Priya Anand, Mathew Thomas, Vasanthi to name a few.

The shooting is currently underway in Andhra Pradesh. This is Vijay's second collaboration with Lokesh, after their hit venture, Master (2021). Leo is one of the most hyped projects in the Tamil film industry at the moment. The film is bankrolled by Seven Screen Studio and The Route.
