Thalapathy Vijay's Varisu to release on THIS date for Pongal?

It looks like Thalapathy Vijay's Varisu release date is finally out. According to a recent tweet by Ahimsa Entertainment, which is releasing the film in the UK, it looks like Varisu is all set to release on January 12 on the occasion of Pongal. 2022. The tweet by the distribution house reads, "Let’s get ready for #VarisuPongal UK release by #AhimsaEntertainment 12.01.23 (sic)." The tweet was shared along with a brand new poster of Vijay in which he is seen sitting atop a car and sipping on tea.

Varisu is directed by Vamshi Paidipally, and the film marks the maiden venture between Vijay and Vamshi. Rashmika Mandanna plays the leading lady in the film and Varisu is her second film in Tamil after her debut with Sulthan. The film is said to be a family drama cum action entertainer. It has an ensemble cast which includes Prakash Raj, Prabhu, Sarathkumar, Shaam, Yogi Babu, Sneha, Meena, Sangeetha Krish, Khushbu Sundar, Samyuktha and Ganesh Venkatram to name a few. The team of Varisu had recently confirmed the release date on Pongal but the release date was missing in the poster. The recent tweet has piqued the curiosity of Vijay fans.

The Varisu team is currently shooting for the climax scene of the film and we hear that a couple of songs need to be filmed even as the rest of the portions have been completed. Music for Varisu is by Thaman and the film is a trilingual, which will be released as Varasudu in Telugu and Vaaris in Hindi. Cinematography is by Karthik Phalani and editing is by Praveen KL.

Now what remains to be known is whether Ajith's heist thriller Thunivu, which is also set to release for Pongal, will clash on the same date. Since it's been almost a decade since Ajith and Vijay films clashed at the box office, excitement is riding high among the fans.
