A picture of Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay has surfaced online, showing him posing with his mother Shobha. In the photo, Vijay is sitting on the floor at his mother's feet, while she sits on a sofa. The image appears to have been taken during a visit to his parents on their wedding anniversary.
The photo is significant given that Vijay has been accused in the past of disrespecting his parents. Detractors on social media have often criticized the way he interacts with his parents, including an incident during the audio launch event of Varisu, where he greeted his mother with a formal handshake.
The strained relationship between Vijay and his father, SA Chandrasekhar, is well-known. Chandrasekhar was instrumental in launching Vijay's career in movies but the two had a falling out over political differences. A few years ago, Chandrasekhar launched a political outfit in Vijay's name, but it was later revealed that the venture didn't have Vijay's approval.
Vijay issued a statement at the time, making it clear that he had no connection with the party that was started by his father. He also filed a lawsuit against his parents for using his name to launch the political party.
Vijay is now busy shooting for Leo. The film is being produced on an extravagant level, with additional precautions taken to protect the project's integrity. Leo is expected to widen the scope of the drug lord and heroic spy cinematic universe developed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. It is the second project to feature Vijay and Lokesh after their successful collaboration on Master. According to Lokesh, Leo is a "100% Lokesh movie," implying that he has the creative freedom to make the film he desires after the blockbuster success of Vikram, which starred Kamal Haasan.
Apart from Vijay, Leo boasts of an ensemble cast that includes Trisha, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun, Priya Anand, Mysskin, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mansoor Ali Khan, Sandy Master, and Mathew Thomas among others.
Leo is due in cinemas in October this year.
