Vijay, best known for his boy-next-door characters at that time, soon emerged as one of the finest action heroes in Tamil cinema with back-to-back blockbusters. The 214-released action thriller which marked Thalapathy Vijay’s first collaboration with director AR Murugadoss, featured the popular actor in a double role as Kathiresan aka Kathir, and Jeevanandam. Kathir takes up the place of Jeeva, a Communist ideologue and fights against the factories that take away the villagers’ only irrigation source.

Vijay teamed up with director Atlee for the first time in his career in 2016, for the blockbuster action thriller, Theri. The popular star played the role of DCP A. Vijaya Kumar, who disguises himself as Joseph Kuruvila, a baker to lead a normal life with his only daughter Nivi, in the movie.

Pokkiri

This Prabhu Deva directorial which hit the theatres in 2007 featured Thalapathy Vijay in the role of Tamizh aka ASP S Sathya Moorthy IPS, and depicted his war against mafia don Ali Bhai (Prakash Raj). The movie, which is an official remake of the Mahesh Babu-starring Telugu movie Pokiri, emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters of Thalapathy Vijay’s acting career.

This much-loved action thriller directed by Dharani, recently had a massive re-release on theatres. Thalapathy Vijay played the role of a happy-go-lucky guy named Saravana Vel aka Velu, who is also known as ‘Ghilli’ in this blockbuster film. Ghilli goes against a notorious goon named Muthu Pandi (Prakash Raj), to save Dhana Lakshmi (Trisha Krishnan), with whom he eventually falls in love with.

Thalapathy Vijay played a happy-go-lucky man named Ravi, who aspires to become a brave policeman like his idol DCP Devaraj IPS (Srihari), in this action thriller directed by B Babusivan. However, Ravi’s life takes a different turn when he decides to take matters into his own hands after Devaraj fails to take action against a powerful don named Vedhanayagam (Salim Ghouse).
